For Patrice Scrofano, kimchi is personal. Growing up in Washington DC, she prepared the Korean staple with her mom throughout her childhood. Patrice started Tae-Gu Kimchi in the midst of the Covid pandemic as an homage to her mom and her Korean heritage. Starting at a single farmer’s market, she now sells at over a dozen locations in the DC area and ships her product nationwide.
Growing up with parents from two different cultures, Patrice’s journey has been informed by her identity. Running her business has brought her closer to her mom, as well as helped her assert her place in her culture. Now, she hopes to spread the love she’s gained with everyone-- through her fresh and flavorful kimchi.
